About this home

UNIQUE EXPERIENCE to stay in one of the most iconic buildings in Historic Roscoe Village! The 1860's canal era building has a long history, originally constructed as a hotel on the 2nd and 3rd floors, the main floor was a pharmacy and dry goods store. You will now find a full kitchen with dining area, full bathroom, living room, and two bedrooms, both with a queen sized bed. The apartment has Roku TV as well as high speed internet. This charming 2nd floor apartment is located in the heart of Historic Roscoe Village, just steps away from shopping, dining and two wonderful bars. This apartment has an adjoining door that connects to another Airbnb. This door is always locked from both sides, however, it can be accessible if both parties are traveling together. The other Airbnb unit is called "Pearl's Place in the Hearth of Historic Roscoe Village". It is a one bedroom apartment with a king sized bed, living room with couch, full bathroom, kitchen and dining area. If interested, simply book both units for the same dates. There is Coin Operated Laundry available for guests, located on the 2nd floor of the building. Please feel free to use the laundry facility if you need. Roscoe Village is a very walkable area - once you've parked, you do not need a vehicle to explore the whole village. There is a dedicated gravel parking lot behind the building for our Airbnb and apartment guests. The host will send you an aerial photo of the building and parking lot for reference once you've booked. Located within the heart of Historic Roscoe Village, this historic canal era town is filled with charm and small shops and just steps away from excellent dining options and wonderful bars. Also within walking or biking distance are the beautiful trails of Lake Park. Amish Country is just a short drive away and makes for an excellent day trip while staying in Roscoe Village. Downtown Coshocton is 2 minutes, Kid's America 10 minutes, Clary Gardens 3 minutes, Lake Park 5 minutes, West Lafayette and Warsaw 10 minutes. South Second Street (5 minutes) is where you will find fast food, pizza, discount stores and gas stations. EV chargers are located across from COTC on N. Whitewoman St. in Roscoe Village. You are within walking distance of all of Roscoe Village. There are several area taxi services available if you wish to travel outside Roscoe Village and prefer not to drive. You are staying in the restored Roscoe Hotel (circa 1856). The building was built by Arnold Medbery and it replaced Medbery’s earlier, wood framed hotel (built 1832) that burned. This building was also a stagecoach stop and was believed to have been on the Underground Railroad. The building housed retail businesses on the main level, sleeping rooms on the second and third floors, and a ballroom on the top floor. The wood floors are from trees as far back as the 1600's and the original plaster walls have some cracks from nearly 170 years that add charm and character to the rooms. There was no electricity or cars and Ohio was just over 40 years old when this building was populated by early European settlers moving west. Millard Fillmore was president and the American civil war was still years away. This is no ordinary airbnb apartment, we have added modern conveniences but tried to keep the historical integrity alive for your enjoyment. Make sure to visit the Coshocton Visitors Bureau located across the street from the apartment (at 432 N Whitewoman St) to get tons of local recommendations!

Overall the space and stay was as described. A few things to note: I’m not convinced that the door code is changed between guests. That did not make us feel super comfortable. As it says in the listing there is a door in a bedroom that connects with another rental unit. That door has a gap of several inches at the floor which allowed a lot of noise to pass through. Also, there is a coffee shop below the place. The coffee shop started their music at 8 am both days even though they don’t open until 9 am.The speaker is located right below one of the beds, so it is impossible to sleep in. We visited the coffee shop and could see how close the speaker was to the ceiling.Lastly the thermostat controls another unit. We were asked not to adjust the temperature. During our stay I missed a message asking us to turn down the temperature because the other unit was uncomfortable. It was an odd request.

This was my 2nd time staying at Dottie’s Place. The first time I was a guest with family. I knew then the next time I was in the area I would book this lovely stay and I did. It easily feels like a home away from home. Clean, accommodating and there was a treat for us as guest upon arrival!

This is a great little 2 bedroom / 1 bath spot right in the heart of the historic district of Roscoe Village. Walkable to nature trails and great restaurants. It is lovely. Just beware on the weekends that you may have neighbors quite close.

We had a great stay at Dottie’s Place. Roscoe is a cute village with fun things to do in the area. The property had a private parking area with no trouble finding a space. Check-in was flexible and easy. The space was clean and even cuter than the photos. They even left us a treat on the counter from a local merchant to enjoy. Thanks for a great stay!
