About this home

The Historic Buckley House – Elegant Riverside Retreat in the Heart of Marietta Step into timeless charm and modern comfort at the Historic Buckley House, a beautifully preserved 19th-century home nestled in the heart of Marietta, Ohio. Originally built in the late 1800s, this grand Victorian residence has long been a cornerstone of the community—first as a private estate, and later as a beloved fine dining restaurant. Today, it has been thoughtfully reimagined as a distinctive guest retreat, blending historic elegance with modern luxury. Located just steps from downtown Marietta, the Buckley House offers the perfect setting for weddings, reunions, or relaxing riverfront escapes. Enjoy an easy 7-minute stroll to the People’s Bank Theater, boutique shops, riverfront trails, and the town’s vibrant dining scene—all while returning to the quiet charm of this stately home. The house features four beautifully appointed bedrooms—three with queen beds, and one with a king—each with its own private en-suite bathroom and walk-in shower. The second floor is fully dedicated to sleeping quarters, offering guests comfort and privacy. On the main level, you’ll find: A newly renovated gourmet kitchen with high-end appliances and a dedicated coffee bar. An elegant dining room featuring seating for eight and hand-carved hardwood furniture, a nod to the home's rich craftsmanship. A cozy parlor and spacious living room, perfect for gatherings or quiet reflection. Outdoors, guests can enjoy the landscaped backyard gardens, complete with brick walkways, a tranquil koi pond, a gazebo, and a large covered deck just off the kitchen—ideal for al fresco dining or morning coffee. The second-floor balcony offers picturesque views of East Muskingum Park and the Muskingum River, just across the street. With ample private parking, walkable access to local attractions, and a legacy that captures the spirit of historic Marietta, the Buckley House is more than a place to stay—it’s a place to experience.

We were shocked that this was a Airbnb. Unbelievable stay! We highly recommend staying at this historic property. From the kitchen to the bedrooms you can feel the history in every room. We'll probably make a special trip to Marietta to stay here again.

The house in centrally located between many of the local attractions. It is walkable to the Valley Gem Sternwheeler (we went on both a luncheon and dinner cruise and would highly recommend), Peoples Theater is two blocks south, (attended a great live performance). The Castle and Mound Cemetery are just four blocks east, a must see. And the Peoples Mortuary Museum is 1/2 block north, also a must see but you have to call to schedule visit but well worth it. The interior of the house has been beautifully restored. You feel like you have just walked into an upper-class home in the late 1800's. All the bathrooms and the kitchen have been updated. The house is spotlessly clean. We did have some concerns, but Maxx was quick to respond to them, and they were satisfied to our approval. Overall, a great place to stay when visiting Marietta.

Our stay at the Buckley House in Marietta was absolutely exceptional from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed and cared for in a way that’s rare to find. The hosts went above and beyond to make our visit special, offering thoughtful recommendations for local restaurants that ended up being some of the highlights of our trip. Their knowledge of the area truly enhanced our experience and made everything feel effortless.Even more impressive, they worked closely with us to create custom welcome baskets for all of our guests, which added such a personal and thoughtful element to the entire experience. The home itself was charming, comfortable, and well maintained, perfect for a relaxing getaway. Every detail felt intentional, and it was clear how much pride the hosts take in creating a memorable experience for their guests. We left already talking about our next visit. We will absolutely be back. Wenhighly recommend the Buckley House to anyone visiting Marietta

My family recently stayed at the Buckley House for a post-Christmas get-together. The space on the first floor accommodated our group quite well, and we really appreciated the fact that upstairs each bedroom had its own bathroom. Overall, we found the premises to be clean and in good order. In addition, the house is situated within walking distance to many of Marietta's shops, restaurants, and attractions which is a plus.

We were in town for our daughter's college graduation. LOVED the extra space for having my family and my daughter's friends over for a dinner and a brunch. So much space to visit and enjoy our friends as opposed to a hotel room. We loved the space and the neighborhood! Walkable to several restaurants, bars and shops. Would definitely stay agin!

This home is beautiful. Nice to have four bedrooms with attached full bathrooms. Kitchen was well appointed with everything you could possibly need for meals. Lots of living space in the two living rooms. Back porch and yard would be awesome in the summertime. Unfortunately, the weather did not allow for us to take advantage of it. Perhaps next summer! Marietta was a very interesting town. Great museums, shops, restaurants and the Basilica! The people there are very friendly and helpful. Definitely a great place to visit and The Historic Buckley House is the place to stay!!

We had a memorable stay at the Buckley House. We found it to be just as described, clean comfortable & spacious for our group of 6. The kitchen is updated, well equipped & includes a coffee bar. The outdoor living space in the back was well lit in the evening & there was plenty of parking space for our 3 cars. The historic home is in a great location, walkable to shops restaurants & the river walk which is across the street. Maxx the host, was an excellent communicator and quick to respond to all questions. He provided local dinner recommendations & showed a genuine interest in making our stay as good as possible. Would stay again!
